How a Porsche-approved repair is done
Porsche’s program leaves very little to the shop’s discretion. These are the requirements behind every Porsche-approved repair.
- Porsche repair instructions, followed exactly
The repair is planned and carried out from Porsche’s own repair instructions for your model. Nothing is improvised or sublet.
- Measured before and after
Your Porsche’s structure is measured on a bench with a digital measuring system before the repair and again when it is finished.
- New, genuine Porsche parts only
Parts are new genuine Porsche parts bought from an authorized Porsche dealer. Used and non-genuine parts are not allowed.
- Porsche-specified equipment
Approved resistance spot welders, MIG welding and the riveting system Porsche specifies, so every joint is made the way the factory made it.
- A separate space for aluminum
Aluminum is repaired in its own isolated work area with dedicated tools and dust extraction, kept apart from steel.
- A trained, designated team
Designated structural technicians, a refinish technician and an estimator hold I-CAR Platinum, ASE and Porsche training, and are tested on Porsche repair information every year.
- Approved paint and booth
Refinishing uses a Porsche-approved paint system in a downdraft booth, with paint film thickness checked against Porsche’s specifications.
- Audited every year
Approved centers are audited annually to confirm the training, equipment and procedures are still in place.
Why Porsche Cars North America recommends an approved repair
The people working on your car have completed Porsche’s training, not just general collision training.
Porsche specifies the parts, materials, tools and equipment approved centers use.
Porsche’s position is that a repair missing any of these elements cannot be assured of its quality and safety.
