How a Tesla-approved repair is done

Tesla publishes a collision repair manual for each model and expects approved shops to follow it exactly. Here is what that means on your car.

  1. Tesla’s repair procedures, start to finish

Every repair follows Tesla’s collision repair manual for your model, including the structural repairs Tesla approves and the post-repair operations it lists.

  2. Tesla-approved parts, fasteners and fluids

Tesla does not support used, recycled or third-party parts. We use Tesla-approved parts and fasteners, and Tesla-approved chemicals, brake fluid and coolant.

  3. Certified aluminum and steel welders

Tesla requires technicians who perform structural work to hold I-CAR aluminum and steel welding certifications, renewed every three years.

  4. Equipment from Tesla’s approved lists

Frame benches, measuring systems and welders are the ones Tesla lists in its repair manuals, so measurements and welds meet Tesla’s specifications.

  5. A Tesla-approved paint system

Refinishing uses a paint system Tesla approves for its collision centers, matched to your car’s factory color.

  6. Every panel off for refinishing

Our own standard on top of Tesla’s: damaged panels come off the car to be painted, so the finish matches the factory everywhere you look.
