We work with all insurance companies to keep your claim moving. When an estimate leaves out a step your car’s manufacturer requires, we speak up for you. You shouldn’t have to argue with an adjuster to get a safe repair.

    Make us your first call

    After the police report, call us. We arrange towing if you need it, help set up a rental, and start the claim with your insurance company for you.

  2. 02

    Wash, teardown and a documented estimate

    We wash the car so no damage hides under dirt, then take apart the damaged area to find what an initial estimate can’t see. Every finding is photographed and documented.

  3. 03

    We work it out with your insurer

    Hidden damage and manufacturer-required parts go to your insurer as a supplement. We advocate for the repair your car needs, and you don’t have to referee.

  4. 04

    Structural and body repair to OEM procedures

    Structural repair, panel replacement or minor bodywork, following the manufacturer’s published repair procedures and using factory parts.

  5. 05

    Factory-matched refinish

    In the paint shop we duplicate the factory seam sealer and undercoating, then prime, paint and seal each panel so the finish lays down the way it did at the factory.

  6. 06

    Reassembly, detail and final inspection

    We reassemble, give the car a proper detail, and run a final quality inspection before you get your keys back.

Our family

Two generations. 50 years and counting.

It started with a car that wouldn’t run.

In 1968, at 16, Bill Moppert Jr. taught himself to fix a 1956 Chevy 210 from Chilton manuals. In 1974 he opened his first shop in West Chester, PA, and in 1976 he and his brothers Harry and Steve incorporated Moppert Brothers Inc. Today Bill and Charlene’s children, Bill III, Ashley and Greg, work alongside him as Moppert Auto Collision, with four shops across South Jersey and Delaware and certifications from Mercedes-Benz, Porsche, Tesla, Jaguar and Land Rover.

Our story

In 1968, at 16, William “Bill” Moppert Jr. got a 1956 Chevrolet 210 hardtop from his grandfather. It didn’t run, and there was no money for a mechanic. So Bill delivered newspapers, bought Chilton repair manuals, and fixed it himself, one breakdown at a time, until the Chevy was back on the road.

Cars became his plan. Bill enrolled at Widener College to study automotive design, dreaming of one day designing new vehicles for General Motors. To pay his way through school, he took a job at the new Pathmark grocery store in Broomall, PA. That’s where he met Charlene, the woman he would marry.

Word got around Pathmark that Bill could fix just about anything with an engine, and friends and coworkers kept bringing him their cars. The store had an underground parking garage, and before long upper management had an offer for him: would he rather work on their cars than run a cash register? He was thrilled and said yes on the spot. Through the rest of college, that garage became his first shop.

Bill graduated in 1974 into an unsettled economy, and design jobs were few and far between. So he turned to Charlene and said, “I think I can make a business out of fixing cars.” He wanted a shop of his own.

That same year he rented one in West Chester, Pennsylvania, doing mechanical repairs. Word got around, the work kept coming, and before long customers were bringing him more than engines. They were bringing him bent fenders and crumpled quarter panels. The mechanical shop was turning into a collision shop.

In 1976 Bill brought his younger brothers Harry and Steve into the business, and together they incorporated Moppert Brothers Inc. Each brother took a trade: Bill ran mechanical, Harry did paint and Steve did body. That same year they moved to a small two-bay shop at Christy Chrysler Plymouth in Lansdowne, PA. Two bays, three brothers, and a reputation to build.

In 1977 Bill and Charlene were married. Charlene stayed on at Pathmark and paid the household bills so Bill could put every dollar the shop earned back into the business.

By 1978 the brothers had outgrown the two bays. They moved down the street to a six-bay garage, and they couldn’t afford all of it at first, so they shared the building with a plumber. Two years later the plumber was gone. The Mopperts had taken over all six bays and bought the whole property, apartments included.

Moppert Brothers kept growing. In 1983 the business moved from Lansdowne to Morton, PA, which became the company’s headquarters. Blue Bell followed in 1997, and in 1999 the brothers crossed the river into South Jersey with a shop in Turnersville.

For more than three decades Bill, Harry and Steve built the business side by side. In 2012 they decided to dissolve their partnership. Each brother took a store, making way for the next generation to move forward.

Bill took Turnersville. In 2014 he re-established the business as Moppert Auto Collision, and with Bill and Charlene’s three children, Bill III, Ashley and Greg, working alongside him, it began to grow again. Swedesboro opened in 2016. In 2018 the family crossed into Delaware with a shop on Ogletown Road, and in 2023 they added a second Delaware location in Newark.

The cars have changed since that ’56 Chevy. The approach hasn’t: learn it, do it right, and stand behind it.

We’ll treat your car the way we’d treat our own, tell you plainly what it needs, and keep you in the loop until it’s back in your driveway. That’s how it started, and it’s still how we do it.

Where are Moppert Auto Collision's shops?

There are four: Turnersville, NJ (4351 Route 42, 856-740-4040), Swedesboro, NJ (2191 Route 322, 856-975-6501), Ogletown in Newark, DE (1801 Ogletown Road, 302-453-2900) and Newark, DE (854 Dawson Drive, 302-453-1173).

What are your hours?

All four shops are open Monday to Friday, 8am to 5pm. Turnersville and Swedesboro are also open Saturday, 8am to noon, by appointment. From Memorial Day to Labor Day, Ogletown's Friday hours are 7am to 4pm. All shops are closed on New Year's Day, Memorial Day, July 4th, Labor Day, Thanksgiving and Christmas.

How do I get a repair estimate?

Use Start my repair on this site, email [email protected], or call the shop nearest you. You don't need an estimate from another shop first.

Do I need more than one estimate?

No. You aren't required to get more than one estimate, and you have the right to choose the body shop that repairs your car.

Can I choose my own body shop, or does my insurance company decide?

You choose. Your insurer can recommend a shop, but where your car is repaired is your decision. We work with every insurance company.

Which insurance companies do you work with?

All of them, including State Farm, GEICO, Progressive, Allstate, NJM, Liberty Mutual, Nationwide, USAA, Travelers, Erie, Plymouth Rock and Tesla Insurance.

Will you handle my insurance claim?

Yes. We help open the claim, set up your rental, and have the adjuster inspect your car at our shop. If the teardown finds hidden damage, we document it and file the supplement with your insurer.

Are you certified to repair Porsche, Mercedes-Benz, Tesla, Jaguar and Land Rover vehicles?

Yes. Moppert Auto Collision is a Porsche Approved Collision Center, a Mercedes-Benz Certified Collision Center (also Commercial Vehicle Certified, sponsored by Mercedes-Benz of Wilmington), a Tesla Approved Collision Center, and Jaguar Land Rover Certified Collision Repair.

Do you use factory (OEM) parts and procedures?

We follow the manufacturer's published repair procedures and use OEM parts to restore fit, finish and crash safety.

Is your work guaranteed?

Yes. Our workmanship is guaranteed for as long as you own the vehicle.

Do you only work on luxury cars?

No. Most of what we fix are everyday cars. Every car gets the same teardown, procedures and final inspection.
